Make it easy for students.

Designing a combo analog/digital onboarding experience with a small group of peers. Our group was given the task ro make Create a web app with all resources for a new dorm resident.

Competitive Assessment

Looked at the competition and looked at what made their product good or bad or what kind of strengths and weaknesses. To improve upon them when making our design.

From this, we found that we needed to Make it easy to sign up, and Make the app simple(our design was meant to be free) Paywalls can hurt your design, Be first-time user-friendly

Budget

Look at what kinds of things we want to include for our physical deliverable to be useful and keep it within a 15$ budget. What we found is that for physical deliverables that are going to be distributed to a large group of people to keep the cost down by buying wholesale.

Lo-fi Prototype

We took a different approach to the typical digital lo-if. We drew it out and made a user flow so we could visualize how everything gonna look and work, along with what our physical deliverable would be.

We handed a design that worked and was easy to use and a better picture of how our wire frame was gonna look.

Physical Deliverable

We made a care package people would get on move in day. Inside is snacks, water, and sandals for the shower. A business card with eagles branding and a qr code that would lead to the app.

Hi-Fi Prototype

We made our lo-fi layout and added EWU colors and logos, made a calendar bar, and made The Easterner on the home screen to see what’s going on around campus, made profile pages, made FAQ and upcoming events page

We made an app that stays on brand with EWU. We achieved our goal of making an informative app with social features that are easy to use, not overwhelming, and helpful to a new dorm resident.
