Thermostat Interface

Student Project

Make it for anyone.

Make a straightforward, smart thermostat interface that everybody can use.

Lo-Fi Prototype

Made it as simple as I could I tried to make buttons big for older people as well as get rid of all the physical buttons making it completely touch screen, and unnecessary features like weather apps that could overwhelm people unfamiliar with technology and interfaces like this.

I found that the buttons were too chunky took up a ton of space, and didn't match the overall feel of the design. The text was dull as well. It didn’t have a modern look to it. Settings definitely needed more it looked incomplete.

Competitive Analysis

Looked at the competition and looked at what made their product good or bad or what kind of strengths and weaknesses to improve upon them when making my design.

What I found looking at all of them is that most of them had the same sort of features. A lot of these companies want to force you to use a companion app and some have an outdated interface of just physical buttons or unclear icons.

Hi-Fi Prototype

In the HIfi added a schedule screen making the interface less crowded. Made buttons smaller and round to give a clean look and took out the fill. Different typefaces give a modern look Added more settings for a more finished look, Took away unnecessary buttons. This look gave a much friendlier look and the screen was much less crowded.
